Duarte – Ensaio

This book by António Júlio Duarte shows us a sequence of images shot in the Summer of 2015, on the set of Colo, a film by Teresa Villaverde.
Ensaio –  the word in Portuguese means both essay and rehearsal – is a melancholic study about the mechanisms of identity construction. It revolves around a group of teenagers and their need to preserve a sense of purity threatened by a world of adults in crisis.
Desire, uncertainty, a need to take risks are the driving forces behind a quiet angst that only eases in contact with nature.
Like in a rock song, AJD is at  the eye of the storm, where things  can be observed more peacefully.
